Waiting for these pieces to show their ugly faces in early 2025:
Magazine1: Saw Palm, a poem about a field of Saw Palmetto and the creatures that lurk within, featuring experimental imagery and vernacular that only a Sarasota-based magazine could understand.
Illustrated Worlds Magazine: A reprint of The Scavenger. Or, technically, a print? The Scavenger was first seen on Creepy Pod as a dramatization.
Ink In Thirds: In Another Life, a piece of flash about someone going crazy and imagining his hotel room turning into oranges. Features some Doris Day shade, too.
Moonday Mag: Mirror Image, a short story about a novelist who discovers someone else has just published the story he’d just finished writing. Features a badass description of what it’s like to be in a home during a hurricane.
Green Hills Literary Lantern: Ma’Donna, a short story based on a sex worker called Shirts for Skirts who used to hang out at my friend’s gas station.
The Avenue Journal: Hot, a Queer revenge tale about someone who was made houseless by a greedy sociopathic asshole.
Whale Road Review: Once, We Were Under the Sea, a prose poem about why you can find shark’s teeth on the ground in inland Central Florida.
elsewhere magazine: The Ghost, a prose poem about someone who is not happy about gentrification.
Still seeking homes for: 1) Spiral, a story about an aging nude art model, 2) To Bethany, with Teeth, a story about witchcraft gone wrong (or right?), 3) To Keep, a story about a woman who learns about her family’s slave owning past yet does nothing to keep herself from sliding into the same systemic behavior, 4) That Sinking Feeling, another ghostly revenge story, 5) Into the Black, an insane 10,000+ word horror/sci-fi story about a boa constrictor and anthropomorphic space frogs, and 6) a bunch of random poems.
